Lights, Camera, Action!

The Toronto design show this past weekend is Canada’s largest contemporary design event. It features some of the hottest up and coming designers and well as some well-established staples.
One of my favourite things this year was the lighting – bold, beautiful, edgy and some flat-out fantastic.
I’m coveting alot of these… and a home to put them in!

One of the event’s biggest attractions is the 5 x 5 – Five Designers, Five Inspired Spaces. One of my favourite parts of this exhibit was the space by Earth Inc. that included this fixture.

Dozens of little red lanterns hang over a truly inspired outdoor space.

This space made me long for warmer weather… and a patio to share with friends!

Here was a great idea from Dee Dee Hannah’s signature glamourous space – to add extra drama – rather than one big chandelier, why not four smaller ones?

To quote our resident design encyclopedia, Paul – “lighting is the jewellery to your home”. Judging from the show, the forecast for this season is no different from fashion – big, bold, statement pieces with high drama are the perfect focal point in a polished space.
